As a queer professor of color, I am committed to creating classroom environments that allow space for underrepresented groups and identities, as well as incorporating care-centered and trauma-informed pedagogical practices. I work with my students to deconstruct hegemonic narratives, considering the ways power and privilege have informed the histories we study, the texts we read, the art we see, and the institutions in which we participate. My syllabi are constantly evolving, incorporating new technologies and creative/artistic opportunities for students to engage with the material and practice taking intellectual risks.
